Liverpool have announced the signing of Virgil van Dijk, via the club’s official website.
The player will complete his transfer on January 1 2018, the day the transfer window opens, and be available from that point onwards.
According to Liverpool, the Dutchman will don the no.4, famously worn by Sammi Hyypia during the Premier League era.
Since the epic Finland international left Anfield, nobody has been fit to grace it, but the world’s most expensive defender might just be that man.

According to the Telegraph, a £75m fee has been agreed with Southampton, which eclipses the record Manchester City set in the summer when buying Kyle Walker.
Liverpool have been crying out for a central defender all season and have now purchased a superb one.
Van Dijk has it all: technical ability, power, composure and leadership skills.
This could be the most important signing of the Klopp era so far.
