One of Gerrard’s stars has been called up to senior national side…

Steven Gerrard is doing good things as our Under-18 and UEFA Youth League coach.

The youngsters in our Academy are coming on leaps and bounds thanks to his contributions since taking the role last summer.

Today, Liam Millar was called up to Canada’s senior squad for their friendly with New Zealand and celebrated as much on Twitter:

Steven Gerrard made sure to congratulate the 18-year-old, too.

“It’s a special moment for him and he deserves it,” the former skipper told the official website.

“He’s worked really hard for that opportunity.”

Millar scored seven goals for the U18s at the start of this campaign, before being promoted into Neil Critchley’s U23s after a number of our teenagers left on loan in January.

He seems to have taken the chance with both hands, and is set to become a full international as a result.

We wish him all the luck in the world!
