Steven Gerrard’s rumoured replacement ought to excite U18s…
Skrtel and Gerrard played together for seven years between 2008 and 2015, but the defender was shipped out after one season under Jurgen Klopp’s guidance, following a nightmarishly poor campaign in 2015/16.
Gerrard though saw Skrtel at his best, especially in 2013/14, when the now 33-year-old scored seven goals in our fight for the Premier League title.
Skrtel is no longer good enough for an elite side, but his experience could well benefit Rangers and Gerrard.
We’re now wondering what other players from Gerrard’s past could join him in Scotland…
There’s a number of talented youngsters he managed for Liverpool’s U18s this season that could benefit from a loan spell, while some older heads in the Skrtel mould could help in a different way.
Perhaps Daniel Sturridge will head north to get some goals, form and confidence under his belt?
Who knows!?
It certainly makes the SPL a more interesting competition though, especially with Brendan Rodgers in charge at Celtic.
