Fabinho has been tremendous in our past two victories over Red Star and Cardiff.

Before last Wednesday, the Brazilian had only started one game, which came in the League Cup, but Jurgen Klopp finally decided to throw Fabinho in at the deep end.

And he came up floating! The former AS Monaco star delivered a Man of the Match performance in Europe and was equally as effective domestically – showing an ability to both break up opposition play and transition Liverpool into attack.

Fabinho has opened up on his development at Liverpool and stated that now he’s in the starting XI, he has no plans to exit it!

“This moment to adapt, it hasn’t been easy, the many times you are out, there were many times I wasn’t [picked],” he told ESPN.

“But I tried to learn from all this, tried to give my best during practice.

“The coaches were very nice to me, they didn’t let me get down. I worked to be well prepared.

“The moment is good,” he added. “I’m very happy, I hope I can keep it. I know the rate here is very high, you have to always try to keep a good performance, and in our team we have a lot of options in the midfield.

“Of course, it’s not possible to be always called, but whenever the coach needs me I want to be ready for it.

“[I] got the opportunity last Wednesday, I believe I [had] a good match, and [against Cardiff] I believe I helped the team at the midfield.

“This is Premier League, I’m still learning day by day how rough the games can be. I’m happy we did it.

“I’m very happy to play my second match in a row as first-choice, playing the full match. It is very good for me.”

We hope Fabinho gets the nod against Arsenal this Saturday. His partnership with Gini Wijnaldum has looked very impressive and has created a platform from which our attackers have scored eight goals in two matches.

Arsenal will attack ferociously at home, so a player of Fabinho’s defensive ilk will be crucial to our chances, although we can see James Milner joining the pair to make a midfield three and help with his exceptional work-rate.
