Steven Gerrard has opened up on the time he nearly joined Chelsea – and confirmed that it was his love for Liverpool that made him stay.
Speaking to The Guardian, Gerrard said: “Nine out of 10 people might argue I would have made more money, won more trophies, blah, blah. But them people are not me. They’re not in my city and they don’t have that connection with my club. That’s why I’m the one in 10.
“I will always wear my heart on my sleeve. I always want to be real, honest and authentic. I’m not a good actor.”
Rangers are currently two points off the top of the table in Scotland; we’d like nothing more than for Stevie to do a brilliant job north of the border and then come down and win the Premier League with the Reds. It would be the perfect ending to a fairytale story.
