Brendan Rodgers says Liverpool will run Manchester City close for the Premier League title this season – and says he is rooting for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Rodgers told The Mail on Sunday: “I want to see them do well, of course. For the supporters, it would be brilliant.
“When you think how close we got that time, it became really emotional in that last five games. To go that close and not win, it was tough.
“They will go close. Jurgen has done a fantastic job and invested well.”
A victory against Everton this afternoon would keep the Reds within touching distance of Manchester City, so the derby is even more vital than normal.
Rodgers added that he has an extra reason for wanting the Reds to win. He added: “Jurgen rents my house. I want him to be there as long as possible!”
