‘We have to keep going’: Henderson nails it with Reds’ season assessment

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says there are a number of factors that have led to the Reds’ excellent Premier League points total and Champions League progression this season – but says there is still a lot to do for the remainder of the campaign.

He told LiverpoolFC.com: “We have defended very well – we’ve got a lot of clean sheets this season. To win trophies, you need to have that along with the attacking power and goals we’ve got.

“So far, it has been a good combination and we need to keep that going for the rest of the season if we want to do something really special.”

With the likes of Fabinho and Naby Keita brought in during the summer, the squad depth is much better too, while Jurgen Klopp has made the team more defensively sound, and less gung-ho – Henderson is spot on.

Henderson added: “We play the way that we play – I don’t think it has changed too much. We have controlled [matches] and maybe become more mature as a team in certain instances in games.

“There are a lot of leaders in the group and there is a lot of experience in big games as well.”

Another mature performance will be needed against Manchester United as the Reds look to go back to the top of the table again this afternoon.
