Mohamed Salah was the man to break Brighton’s resolve on Saturday as he won and scored a penalty to put Liverpool 1-0.
The Egyptian broke the deadlock from the spot early in the second half having seen his superb jinking run draw a foul from Pascal Gross in the box.
It followed up a frustrating first half for the Reds in which the hosts’ defensive organisation had limited Jurgen Klopp’s men to few clear-cut chances on goal.
Xherdan Shaqiri had gone the closest for the Premier League leaders when his glancing header sailed inches wide of the far post.
