Robbo says fan reaction to United draw has made players think

Andy Robertson has explained his thoughts and feelings after the 0-0 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Liverpool were frustrated by an injury-struck home team, but our own ability to create anything of note was appalling.

In reality, a point away to United is decent, especially when it takes us back to the top of the Premier League table – but it does mean we simply have to beat Watford on Wednesday night.

Robbo reckons the fact the fans were not entirely content with the draw will spur the team on – and has encouraged his team-mates to be inspired by the opportunity and not fazed by the pressure.

“It is disappointing, but we are top of the league – and if you’d offered everyone connected to Liverpool being a point clear in February, everybody would have taken it,” the Scotland skipper told the Mirror.

“We need to look at the fans, the way they didn’t celebrate it but were happy we were back top of the league, happy with the point. We can look at them go, ‘You know what, fair play’. But we need to look at that and kick on.

“It’s an exciting opportunity that we need to grab with both hands and so at the end of the season we go back and say we gave it our all whether we were good enough or not – as long as we’ve given it 100 per cent.”

Robbo has actually struggled for form in 2019, but he absolutely must keep his spot in the side with only Alberto Moreno as potential backup.

The Spaniard is a liability, so we just hope our 24-year-old can start again proving why he’s considered one of the best in the country.
