Real Madrid are reportedly leading the race to sign PSG and France midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer this summer, according to Spanish outlet AS.
The Reds have been linked with him for a number of months, while Barcelona had been thought to be leading the race, and Tottenham were keeping an eye on him, but Zinedine Zidane reportedly wants to bring Rabiot in as one of a few signings Real Madrid will make this summer.
Reports suggest Zidane will get his man, and so it certainly seems unlikely that Liverpool will be signing Rabiot – which is a shame, given he’s a top-class player.
A new midfielder is likely to be on the club’s shopping list for the summer window, but perhaps someone with more creative abilities rather than another box-to-box type is what is required.
Rabiot is not really a goalscorer from the centre of the pitch, and Jurgen Klopp might well feel that the Reds have enough of his type at the club already.
