Barca to take drastic Coutinho action after Liverpool’s 4-0 win

Liverpool’s 4-0 pummelling of Barcelona at Anfield last night was the final nail in the coffin of Coutinho’s Camp Nou career.

That’s according to ESPN, who claim that a source close to the club has told them, “Coutinho is not a Barcelona player, that’s been made clear.”

Our former no.10 barely got a kick in either leg and in both matches was withdrawn early for Nelson Semedo.

He’s been criticised throughout the season and was ruined by Spanish paper SPORT, who gave him a 0/10 in a fairly ruthless assessment.

The monstrous fee we got for Coutinho back in January 2018 is looking like better business every day, especially considering how well we’ve done in the Brazilian’s absence.

Without selling Coutinho, would we have bought Virgil van Dijk that same window? Who knows.

We actually hold no serious grudges against Coutinho, who was a terrific player for us and whose sale enabled us to move forward as a club.

But we’d be very surprised if Liverpool went back in for him. Our style is now more multidimensional and for the money it would require to re-sign the 26-year-old, we’re just not sure it would be worth it.
