Reported target set to sign for Bournemouth – what does it mean for the Reds?

Bristol City defender Lloyd Kelly, who has been listed as someone the Reds were keeping tabs on, could be about to make a move to Bournemouth, according to Sky Sports.

The 20-year-old left-back, who can also play in the centre of defence, has made 34 appearances this season in the Championship, and it was always thought that he would be playing in the Premier League next season.

With Alberto Moreno set to leave on a free transfer, Jurgen Klopp will need a back-up left-back to come into the first team setup.

Of course, just because a fee is agreed, that is not to say that the move will take place – the Reds could match the offer if there is serious interest. It seems likely, though, that Kelly will go to the South Coast.

Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon is one that we’d like to see come to Anfield, as he’d be able to offer cover on the left side of the front three as well, but he would probably cost a lot more. He is a Reds fan who idolises Steven Gerrard, but whether Klopp will make a move for him remains to be seen.

The other option is promoting 19-year-old Adam Lewis from the U23s, although he might need a loan move elsewhere before he is ready to deputise for Andy Robertson.
