Young Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo is set to sign a five-year contract with the Reds, according to Football Insider.

He is then expected to go out on loan to Steven Gerrard’s Rangers next season, with the contract likely to be more about preserving his value than anything else.

Now 21, Ojo is unlikely to have a future with the Reds’ first team having failed to impress in France for Reims last season. Jurgen Klopp called him ‘fantastic’ following last year’s pre-season, according to One Football, but he turns 22 in around a week, and needs regular, top-level game time.

He will be hoping to have more success next year if he does head to Scotland, where he might be tasked with replacing another Reds loanee, Ryan Kent, who could be set for a permanent move away from Merseyside this summer.

Ojo has fallen off the radar a little over the last couple of seasons, having been really highly rated. Hopefully, he can work with Gerrard and get back to his best, fulfilling the undoubtedly vast potential that he possesses.
