Former England international Darren Bent says the Reds are ‘guaranteed’ to win a trophy next season now that Jurgen Klopp has tasted victory in a final as Liverpool boss.
The hope is that the Champions League trophy can be the first of many, but the Reds know that they cannot rest in the pursuit of more titles – including the Premier League, which is the one every fan is desperate for.
Bent, however, believes there is nothing to worry about when it comes to picking up more trophies in the coming seasons.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, he said: “As soon as you win a trophy you know what it’s like. With Jurgen Klopp, all them finals they lost, now he’s won the Champions League it’s like a weight off his shoulders.
“I guarantee you Liverpool will go and win something else next season because they’ve been there, they know how to do that.”
In contrast, he said former club Spurs, the losing finalists in Madrid, have ‘forgotten’ how to win silverware.
The Premier League is the main ambition for next year, as well as attempting to retain the European crown, but it would also be nice to have a decent run in a couple of the other competitions.
The Reds will have lots of chances of silverware next year, starting with the Charity Shield and UEFA Super Cup. There is also the Club World Cup which is to come at some point in December.
