Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to express their feelings after the club announced that Champions League hero Divock Origi has been given a new, long-term contract.
The Belgian scored several crucial goals for the Reds in our quest for our sixth UCL title, and has clearly earned the trust of manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Belgian forward signed for the Reds in 2014 and has spent two of his season as a Liverpool player on loan at former club Lille and Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.
Origi has been promised Daniel Sturridge’s minutes for next season by manager Klopp – the former England international has departed the club after his contract ran out at the end of last month, and the Belgian is in line to inherit his role.

Here’s how fans reacted to the news of the Belgian’s new contract on social media…
Delighted to see Origi sign a new deal. Makes loads of sense for both parties, and he’s fully earned it after his immense contributions last season. Incredible comeback from obscurity to club icon status in a matter of months.

He had no future at Liverpool, was loaned out and didn’t make an appearance until November.
He then scored that goal in the Derby and basically won us the Champions League.
Now he’s secured a long-term contract.
Give me a better comeback story. Divock Origi is my hero. pic.twitter.com/uSgwgkIZZ7
