Barca disrespect Coutinho – Phil embarrassed once again by Los Cules

Just 18 months ago, Coutinho arrived at Barcelona as the final piece of their jigsaw and the heir to Andres Iniesta’s throne.

In order to secure him from Liverpool, the Catalan giants paid a jaw-dropping £142m sum, which is now mentioned whenever the Brazilian’s performances are analysed.

But the dream move hasn’t exactly worked out. Not only did Ernesto Valderde regularly start Coutinho from the bench last season, but his own fans booed him on more than one occasion – disappointed by his lack of end product.

Spanish report: Reds will re-sign Coutinho this summer on one condition

At Anfield, we saw a player bereft of confidence as Liverpool battered Barca 4-0, qualifying for the Champions League Final we went on to win without him.

Now, it couldn’t be clearer that Barca see no future for the 27-year-old, as they’re about to take his shirt number from his back and give it to Antoine Griezmann.

Spanish outlet AS, via Sports Mole, claim that Barca will give the Frenchman Coutinho’s no.7 upon his arrival, now that a £107m release-clause has finally been officially met.

To do this to a world-class player like Coutinho is utterly disrespectful and no doubt embarrassing.

We’d suggest it proves Barca want him out of the door, but we’re not sure a potential suitor is out there who would pay the money right now.
