Germany legend admits Liverpool thrashing was not “Bayern Munich like”

Liverpool turned a few heads last season when they dumped Bayern Munich out of the Champions League with relative ease.

A 3-0 win at the Allianz doesn’t go unnoticed, and it doesn’t get forgotten easily by the men on the receiving end of the beating,

Sadio Mane lit up the German champions’ stadium, and his brace was arguably the reason we found ourselves in the next round of the competition.

Our famous win against Barcelona is well documented, but the win against Bayern is just as crucial as they’re no push-overs.

The 3-1 victory was brilliant for the Reds, but Bayern legend Manuel Neuer admits that game still haunts him.

Last season we played against a very good team Liverpool, the winner of the Champions league,” he told ESPN.

Next season we are so motivated to go on in the Champions League and to go to the final and win it again. But it will be very hard and strong, we know it but we have our goals as well.

I think about both matches because I think in two matches we get maybe three chances for us and it is not Bayern Munich like. So we have to do it a little bit different in the next season.

We have to create more chances and have better form in the future.

It’s amazing how many players talk about Liverpool as if we’re the boogie man – so many top players are scared of the Reds, and it’s testament to what Jurgen Klopp has built at Anfield.
