Jurgen Klopp outlines where the Reds’ ‘main focus’ lies ahead of the new campaign

Jurgen Klopp addressed the media last night in America as the Reds count down to the start of their US tour.

The first game of the trip comes against Borussia Dortmund, kicking off at 1am on Saturday morning UK time. That game – and the others – will be a big chance to impress for all the players, with competition for places sterner than ever before.

A number of topics were discussed during the press conference – including last season’s Champions League victory – but Klopp was also keen to look ahead to next season, explaining that bringing home the Premier League is always the biggest aim.

Via Neil Jones, Klopp explained: “The number of games sounds big [with seven competitions to compete in]! But we never try to avoid games, because that means we are having a successful season. The league, as always, will be the main focus.

“We will chase [Manchester City]. I don’t think they would have made it to 98 points [last season] if we weren’t putting pressure on.”

The Reds will certainly run City close again at least, while Tottenham have made a couple of additions and could get closer to challenging for top spot. There’s no reason to think that the Reds can’t go and win the league, though, with the squad available at Klopp’s disposal.

It’s all set to be another amazing season – we can’t wait for it all to start again now!
