Respected journalist makes huge claim about Pepe to LFC rumours

Liverpool have been continuously linked with a move for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, but renowned journalist Dominic King has suggested it’s a deal that won’t happen.

Lille wouldn’t let their main man go without a fight, and have slapped a £70million price tag on their star winger – as per the Mirror.

According to the Evening Standard, Anfield chiefs suspect that the club is being used to promote interest in a player who is likely to be involved in one of the biggest moves of the transfer window.

The Ivory Coast international is an accomplished left-footed right-winger, like Mo Salah, so it’s intriguing why we’ve been so heavily linked with him as he’s too good to sit on the bench.

Daily Mail reporter Dom King has recently shot down suggestions that we may announce Pepe as our next signing on Twitter.

If we are actually interested in bringing Pepe to Anfield then a fair bit needs to be said about the way the Reds have handled this as local media are denying everything.

I’d suggest that Liverpool are probably not in the market for a player that would break the bank. After last summer, I’d expect Klopp to go after a player who is capable of playing on the left and right wings, as well as a central forward, but wouldn’t expect to be playing every week.

Pepe isn’t that player – but keep an eye on this one, Reds, it doesn’t seem to be dying down.
