Divock Origi has perhaps saved his fellow countryman Simon Mignolet some grief as the striker levelled the score-line against Sporting Lisbon in the Reds’ last pre-season friendly in the US.
Mignolet found himself wrong-sighted by a 25-yard effort from Bruno Fernandes, and the ball rolled into the gaping net. In truth, the goal flatters the midfielder’s effort.
But, as Liverpool applied the pressure throughout the first half, it was only a matter of time before the Reds struck – and it was Origi with a classic poacher’s goal on the rebound of Jordan Henderson’s attempt.
That sounds familiar!
