Barcelona believe they can snap up ideal Reds ‘target’ for just €20 million as club lower asking price

Barcelona believe that they can sign Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo for just €20 million this summer – just weeks after the Reds were reportedly scared off by a near-£50 million valuation.

According to Sport, Betis need to sell to cover the cost of signing of Nabil Fekir from Lyon and fund the addition of a centre forward, and with Giovani Lo Celso no closer to signing for Tottenham in a big-money move, they are being forced to sell assets elsewhere.

Betis apparently lowered their asking price for Firpo to just €25 million on Monday, but Barcelona think they can negotiate even more as they search for back-up for Jordi Alba.

If that is correct, the Reds should be all over a deal for Firpo. He would be ideal cover for Andy Robertson and can also play further up the pitch, potentially offering cover for Sadio Mane as well.

At that price, the perfect combination of a cheap option (in relative terms) and a seemingly perfectly-suited player that the Reds have been looking for might just have popped up.

Only the right player at the right price would tempt the Reds to change their transfer stance – and this, on paper at least, seems to fit that description.
