Coutinho will be staying at Barcelona this summer, because no club has submitted a single bid for the Brazilian playmaker.
According to the Daily Mail, Barca were hoping to receive offers around the £110m mark for the former Liverpool star, but nothing has come in.
This is despite Barcelona signing Antoine Griezmann, which effectively pushes Coutinho far down the pecking order.
Now, with Coutinho unlikely to be a regular starter in 2019/20, Barca’s chances of getting serious money for him will diminish – and there may arise a situation in the future in which Coutinho departs on a loan deal with a view to a permanent exit.
Of course, this is all speculation – and Coutinho may enjoy a far better campaign and establish himself in Ernesto Valverde’s side. It’s just right now, it doesn’t look likely, especially considering how Barca fans booed him last season and Valverde stopped playing him in the midfield three.
Will Phil return to Liverpool one day? Only if Barca allow him to leave very cheaply, we reckon.
