Gini Wijnaldum was the best player on the pitch for his nation, the Netherlands, last night, as they beat Germany 4-2 in Hamburg, and Reds fans were very impressed.
Wijnaldum scored and assisted in the game, but it was more than just that which made so many people take note of his showing. Playing in a more advanced role than the one Jurgen Klopp tends to utilise him in, Wijnaldum was in a confident mood.
As the highlights video of his performance below shows, Wijnaldum was on fire as he won the ball back brilliantly, silkily fed his teammates possession time and time again, and dominated Toni Kroos, his opposite number.

It just goes to show how good he is. Alongside Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong, Wijnaldum produced a world-class performance that was nothing short of a delight to witness.
The Dutch midfielder has to be one of the most underappreciated and underrated stars around. He played superbly against a top-class opponent, and it’s certainly not the first time that has happened.
