Liverpool to battle Barcelona for Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz – Report

Posted by

Liverpool are one of the clubs monitoring Napoli star Fabian Ruiz, reports Italian outlet calciomercato, cited by MailOnline.

The 23-year-old was exceptional for the Serie A giants last season, making 40 appearances in total and scoring seven times.

Ruiz is an interesting player as he provides a skill-set not currently present in our midfield.

He is a creator, but also a link-man. He’s like Gini Wijnaldum, with the ability to play a through-ball or pick out a delicate pass in and around the box.

Jurgen Klopp currently has a plethora of options in the middle, with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Adam Lallana and Naby Keita currently not in the first-choice XI – so the question of whether we really need another player for this area is a fair one.

By next summer however, Milner and Lallana may be close to being moved on, and the squad could need refreshing in certain areas.

According to the original report, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen on 23-year-old Ruiz, who is at a perfect age to go to the next level.

Liverpool will face Ruiz on Tuesday evening in the Champions League, when we face Carlo Ancelotti’s side at the San Paolo.
