Danny Mills questions Jurgen Klopp’s favoured LFC midfield trio

Danny Mills isn’t convinced Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum will chip in enough goals and assists for Liverpool.

He has a point, the three of them don’t usually rack up the goals, but they’re also the midfield combination that won us a Champions League title last season.

That being said, Mills does admit that Gini is capable of chipping in a few, but he does hold his concerns. “That three as it stands at the moment, with Henderson, Fabinho, and Wijnaldum, is there enough creativity in that?he told Sky Sports (via Live 4 Liverpool).

Is there enough goals in that? Wijnaldum might get a few, we’ve seen that. Henderson I don’t think is gonna score too many. Fabinho is not gonna score too many, and also, they’re not going to create.

To me, it seems harsh to criticise Liverpool’s midfield so heavily when we’ve got such a free-scoring attack. Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino do the heavy-lifting on the goal front.

Henderson and Fabinho, especially, aren’t expected to do much creating either – their job is to break up play, and give the ball over to the likes of Mo, Sadio, Trent and Robbo.

While there is some validity to Mills’ point, it (hopefully) won’t be long before a fully fit Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain start chipping in.
