Former Liverpool director working on Donald Trump re-election campaign

The Tom Hicks and George Gillett era of Liverpool’s history was perhaps some of the darkest days in the recent years of the club.

One of the world’s most famous football clubs was taken very close to administration just nine years ago, before the Fenway Sports Group stepped in a bought us.

It’s hard to imagine that anyone involved with the club during that time would be working on anything else of note, but that’s exactly what’s happened.

In the ranks of the club between 2007 and 2010 was a man called Tom Hicks (Junior) – a man who is now working with Donald Trump to see the American President re-elected.

Madness.

Hicks Jnr is now the co-chair of the Republican Party and is regarded as one of the most powerful Republicans in campaign politics – a game he was brought into by his long-term friend Donald Trump (Junior).

This news has been revealed by the Liverpool Echo (via BuzzFeed) and is surely news that will puzzle Liverpool fans – as it’s questionable how such a disliked figure at the club is working in a world where back-stabbing is more common than anyone would like to admit.

Young Hicks is perhaps best known by Liverpool fans as the person who became embroiled in an email row with a supporter in which he labelled the fan an “idiot” then told them to “Blow me f*** face. Go to hell. I’m sick of you”, as per the same Echo report.
