Former Man City man Stuart Pearce thinks LFC will win PL title “comfortably”

Stuart Pearce believes that Liverpool will still comfortably win the Premier League title, ahead of Manchester City, after a slip up against United over the weekend.

The Reds travelled to Old Trafford as strong favourites, but the occasion seemed to have got to our players and we were fortunate to escape with a point.

Truth be told, United weren’t that great, but our under-performance seemed to have galvanised their team and it looked like a great result for them at 1-0.

Thank goodness Adam Lallana popped up with his first goal in two years!

Former City man Pearce believes that two points dropped at Old Trafford will not stand in Liverpool’s way this year. “I think Liverpool will win the Premier League comfortably this year,he told talkSPORT.

I’m not sure they’ll go unbeaten, but I can’t see them losing more than two games. They’re still clear favourites.

Those could be against Manchester City, potentially, but if you go into the game against your nearest rivals with a six point buffer, it will put real pressure on Man City to come out and play.

That might just suit Liverpool.

It’s rare that I’m this optimistic, but I think I agree with Pearce, I can’t see us losing that much this season. We’ve already overcome Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester and United – I think City are going to be the only team that’ll genuinely intimidate ours.

Admittedly, we did lose our bottle a bit at Old Trafford, but that’s a huge game and the players know pride is on the line – you’re not allowed to lose a derby.

It’d be naive to suggest we’ll walk the Premier League, especially after just nine games, but it’s shaping up to be an entertaining ride!
