Premier League is unlikely to allow LFC to move any top-flight games – BBC

Jurgen Klopp was clearly bothered after Liverpool knocked Arsenal out of the Carabao Cup in dramatic fashion – but it wasn’t about the result.

The Reds have a very congested winter schedule, which has been further littered with fixtures in the League Cup, and the boss isn’t happy.

He joked (or was it a joke?) that he’d field two different teams to accommodate both the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Aston Villa and our FIFA Club World Cup fixture in Qatar.

But the BBC has now claimed that it’s unlikely that the Premier League will allow Liverpool to move any top-flight games to accommodate their fixture list.

Our league game against West Ham has already been postponed because of our trip to Qatar, and the PL is unlikely to want to inconvenience any club any further.

The same BBC report also revealed that Klopp is in talks with the EFL about moving the Cup fixture, but nothing has been decided yet.

If the Reds are forced to play two games in one day in two different continents, then I’d expect Klopp to field an extremely inexperienced side against Villa and prioritise the Club World Cup.

I know it’s not all about Liverpool, but you’d hope that our domestic leagues would try to accommodate us as winning the CWC wouldn’t be a bad thing for the English game!
