Reds ‘join race’ for £42.5 million Brazilian

Liverpool are looking to sign Porto right-back Eder Militao according to The Mirror, with the player having a release clause of around £42.5 million.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are also apparently interested in signing the 20-year-old, meaning the Reds will have significant competition.

Porto want the full-back to sign a new contract with a higher release clause to earn a higher fee, but as with most emerging talents in Portugal, a move to a bigger club will arrive sooner rather than later.

With Nathaniel Clyne the only alternative to Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, with Joe Gomez certainly now seen as a central defender, the move would make sense.

Whether any interest will materialise in January remains to be seen, with Jurgen Klopp having already intimated that he is happy with his squad, but Militao could be a name to keep an eye on.

Should the Reds get through against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, they could draw Porto, who face Roma in their tie.
