Liverpool want to sell Lucas and bring Fabian Delph in this January

In very interesting Liverpool news, Goal has revealed that Raheem Sterling is ready to commit his future to Liverpool, because he’s been assured that Brendan Rodgers will continue as manager…

Our wonderkid is apparently close to agreeing a bumper extension, but the report claims that he wouldn’t have done so if the manager had been shown the door, with rumours rife in December that the Northern Irishman’s time in charge was up.

Sterling has a very close relationship with Rodgers, the man who gave him his European debut, and has nurtured him into the best young player on the continent.

Under Rodgers’ guidance, Sterling is an England regular, and arguably Liverpool’s most important attacker (in the absence of Daniel Sturridge), and the club is desperate to extend his contract as a result.

Now the 20-year-old has been told that Rodgers is definitely keeping his job, he’ll pen a new deal.

A source confirmed to Goal: “Raheem and Brendan are very close and there was a worry about the future of the manager.

“But Liverpool have given assurances and they insist that recent reports that they were considering his position are far from the truth and they are committed to him – which is what Raheem wanted to hear.”
