Bargain Hunter’s Paradise

As we await anxiously for a new manager, and hopefully new owners, we could be sure this turmoil will take quite some time. There’s a solution to each and every problem. The list above comprises of 30 of the most impressive of free transfer players I’ve have seen for years. And with all our financial troubles we could do with these kind of players, the only question is could we afford their high wages?

Lets look at some of my picks out of these 30,

  • Joe Cole is the obvious standout, simply because its Joe Cole, nuff said. He’d bring bags of attacking qualities, and help us add the extra edge on the final 3rd. Recent rumors had mentioned, however, that he’s gonna sign with Arsenal, stay in London, blablabla…. but as long as it ain’t official yet, we should give it a go!
  • If we were to lose Mascherano to Inter “Millions”,  I’d like to steal Ballack from that bunch, he’d add much presence and more leadership qualities. A German captain replacing an Argentine one, lol, that’s one for keeps. He will be like a straight swap and he is already proven himself in the league. He will also add some aerial threat to our attacking final 3rd.
  • Should I mention, one Thierry Henry is also available, he should also be a good effective signing, he praised the Kop once already, he could even wear no.14 right away if he joins us. Pacey, silky and a deadly finisher, we know that Henry pack bags of experience and he could do us a world’s good.
  • And then there’s Sidney Govou, a proven winger/forward who could also add depth to our seemingly lacklustre attack. I would also give Martin Petrov a try, his fragile nature aside, he has pace to burn, and he’s already proven himself in the Premier League, so why not?  Kalu Uche may sound alien to you, but this 28 year old is pacey and is decent to say the least.
  • Ilan is the other decent surprise of choice of mine, he showed last season, coming in during the winter transfer window and he scored a couple of goals and establish himself as a regular in West Ham, but now he’s left, maybe we could do with a decent striker on the go. If we want a proven goalscorer, we should look no further than Kris Boyd, 101 goals in 143 appearances for Rangers is a bloody impressive record, and I really think he’d be an awesome signing !
  • Last but not least, a few defensive names that could help add depth to our backline, Sylvinho, Queudreu and oh yeah Belletti

In my humblest opinion, we should go for Kris Boyd, Joe Cole and Govou. We can’t sign ALL 30 of them  now, can we :P

NOTE:

This is just a personal point of view, its not the views shared with no one, except me. By the way,  who do you think, from the list above, would you like to see play at the L4 next season? Share your thoughts!

  1. Kris Boyd to LFC must be a fishing trip…

Joe Cole will want too much money in wages. Ballack is an injury-prone mercenary and will want to be the top-earner so we’ll swerve him too.

  2. And who would be paying for their wages? Unless Ballack, Cole, Henry don’t mind taking a pay cut, I don’t see anyone of them coming to us

  3. Great post Ahmad, I wish they published the salaries somewhere. Some of these players might have high salaries. Looks like more and more clubs are trying to slash their high salaries.

  4. I think the two most realistic and yet at least good enough players to improove our squad would be petrov and joe ledley. Petrov is proven when he is fit and I could be wrong but I think he played with Torres at Athletico and every year the Three teams that come up have genuine Premiership players in there ranks and Ledley has been one of the best players in that league for a while. We could afford there wages and they would not have to move far either.

  5. its lovely to shop at harrods if you can afford it but most have to shop at netto and the yanks are jp penny and wall mart

  6. I would really like to have Cole and Ballack.
Get a few millions from a Masch-transfer, get those two without paying anyhing and out of the money we got from masch, we could buy a new striker or pay it to the bank.

  7. Kris Boyd is a proven finisher and worth a look. Id like to throw Benjanis name into the mix, hes been injured fcor a while but is a proven goal scorer in the premiership

  8. Joe Ledley, Thierry Henry,Sol Campbell and Martin Petrov. Kris Boyd would be a good back up striker. We need to start looking at the lower leagues for players coz no money to spend and one player we have to buy this summer is Anthony Gerrard best centre back in championship league. Victor Moses of Crystal Palace is another good player that will become great. Stephen Hunt of Hull City would be a great squad filler for the left wing he gives his all and such a tough player to play against. I also think its time to give Jay Spearing a chance in the team.

  9. I’ll stick to my guns and say those 3 is our priority,
Kris Boyd is a proven finished, a good finisher, and a
fantastic one to have on the bench, or who knows,
    to partner our number 9.

if we lose Masch to Inter Millions, we
    could get Ballack.

the other thing I noticed some of you mentioning Benjani,
    yeah exactly my idea too!
Benjani is a proven finisher, and yes another decent backup.

  12. Benjani! considering the way he’s been left out should not detract from the fact that he is capable of big things. The old truism ‘form is temporary, class is permanent’ might ring true.

I also think Scharner can add some steel to our midfield and his wages are suited to our financial situation

  13. Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
