FA confirm that they are ‘looking at’ Martin Skrtel’s stamp – Liverpool fear retrospective ban

How much of a loss will a suspended Martin Skrtel be?

The Liverpool Echo has today told fans that the FA has confirmed to them that they are ‘looking at’ Martin Skrtel’s alleged stamp on Manchester United ‘keeper David de Gea in the dying seconds of Sunday’s defeat.

Steven Gerrard was sent off for his stamp on midfielder Ander Herrera at the start of the second half, but Skrtel’s violation wasn’t punished at the time…

It’s difficult to say whether the Slovakian’s actions are deliberate – as they undoubtedly look worse in slow motion than they did live.

If Skrtel is retrospectively punished, he could miss three games through suspension, along with skipper Gerrard.

This means that Kolo Toure could potentially directly replace him at the heart of the back-three, or Brendan Rodgers may even consider switching formation again – with the 3-4-3 probably not getting the best out of star striker Daniel Sturridge.

Do we expect Skrtel to be banned? And how will we cope in his potential absence…?
