According to The Telegraph, the England international may be on his way to Anfield, but only if the Gunners can complete a deal for Barcelona’s Pedro.

Walcott has one year left on his current contract at the Emirates, and The Telegraph suggest that a new deal may not be on its way.

The Liverpool Echo reported that our boss Brendan Rodgers is looking for marquee signings in the summer, but this arguably would not fill that brief, especially if it takes a large fee to bring him in.

The 26-year-old has made just nine Premier League appearances this season, as injuries have decimated much of his campaign. His game-time has been made all the more sporadic as his manager continues to prefer other options.

Signing Walcott would be taking a huge gamble on a player that has not quite reached the potential he promised when he burst onto the scene nearly a decade ago. As exciting as he can be, the time he has spent on the treatment table should get the alarm bells ringing, and persuade Rodgers to pursue other targets.
