Chelsea 0-1 Liverpool (26th October 2008)
Chelsea were unbeaten in 86 home league games. However, Rafael Benitez’s side ended the streak thanks to a deflected strike from Xabi Alonso early on. Jamie Carragher was outstanding at the back while the Reds success was made all the more impressive by the absence of Fernando Torres. The Blues pushed forward in search of an equaliser but the Reds deservedly held out. We’d go on to finish second this season, behind Manchester United.
