Kolo Toure was an unused substitute during our defeat to Crystal Palace, but that didn’t stop the defender taking part in the post match celebrations – dedicated to the amazing career of Steven Gerrard.
Along with his teammates, the former Arsenal man came out for the tributes to our skipper wearing the famous No. 8 shirt that will be vacated once Gerrard moves to LA Galaxy following our final game of the season against Stoke next weekend.
His fellow defender Dejan Lovren also took part in the events, and posted a touching tribute to the captain on Instagram. Our summer signing expressed his disappointment that they will only spend one season together as teammates, and explained that the former England captain is a legend, whose legacy will live on.
However, the moment is somewhat ruined by Toure, who obviously decided to take a more active role in the celebrations than he had done in the game itself. The Ivorian is lurking in the background, and unintentionally – but nevertheless, hilariously – photobombs the moment in a way that will bring a smile to even the most upset of Liverpool fans on this somewhat sad day.
