The Daily Mail has embarrassingly revealed that the Liverpool players had already packed for their holidays before Sunday’s 6-1 Premier League defeat at the hands of Stoke City.
Indeed, no one seemed focused during a first-half that saw us concede five goals, leaving Brendan Rodgers’ side with a mountain to climb. Steven Gerrard did pull a goal back on his final Liverpool appearance, before former Reds striker Peter Crouch added insult to injury.
Now it seems that our players already had one eye (or more), on a flight to Dubai, which took place that same evening. The trip was to mark Gerrard’s departure from the club, a perfectly pleasant concept, but the press have now jumped on our squad for not keeping their focus ahead of our final game of the season.
The players won’t be helped by the video footage that has since emerged on social media, of the Liverpool players jubilantly dancing and signing their way through the airport, despite the game having taken place just hours earlier.
Thankfully, if you ignore the context surrounding them, the videos are extremely entertaining!
