This is the latest in a long-line of rumours surrounding our potential move for the Croatian midfielder, who has been heavily linked with a switch to Anfield this summer. It seems clear now that there is some form of truth in these constant suggestions and we will wait with eager anticipation to see what comes of them.
Here’s what he had to say:
Liverpool have bid 21m€ for Inter’s Kovacic

.@KopAce74 Kovacic has no release clause. Inter rejected 20m€ from Barcelona last year. Expect at least 25m€

.@EljeroElastico I don’t think Liverpool could stand a chance for Pjanic. Cost 40m€, and PSG attempt last year was refused

Palmeri revealed at the start of last month that we had made a €10m offer for the player, which was swiftly rejected.
This was followed a week later by a report from the Daily Star, which suggested that Milan would sacrifice Kovacic in order to fund their bid for Manchester City’s Yaya Toure. And with Sky Sports confirming that Inter are under pressure to meet Financial Fair Play regulations, Roberto Mancini’s side will be forced to sell before they can buy.
We then learned via Italian paper Gazzetta dello Sport – whose claims have since been picked up by the Daily Express – that a fresh offer, believed to be worth around £12.9m, had been made.
Now, less than a week on from that story, Palmeri is back with suggestions of a third bid – with the suggested fee of around €21m equating to roughly £15.5m.
Kovacic was in fine form last season, despite Inter finishing in a disappointing eighth place in Serie A. The 21-year-old played 44 times in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.
