Nine out-of-favour footballers who would make good summer signings for Liverpool

Posted by

Filipe Luis (Chelsea)

With Alberto Moreno having endured a difficult first season on Merseyside, the Spaniard might benefit from having an experienced mentor to show him the ropes. Luis has struggled to oust Cesar Azpilicueta from the Chelsea team and could be convinced to make the move across England this summer.

Yohan Cabaye (Paris Saint Germain)

James Milner has already come in but you get the impression that we could still be tempted into signing a second midfield player this summer, as we prepare ourselves for life without Steven Gerrard. The Frenchman has bags of Premier League experience, having spent a couple of years with Newcastle, and would be a decent addition.

Matthias Ginter (Borussia Dortmund)

Another player that struggled with injury last season. A youngster – he’s still only 21 – who is a defensive midfielder by trade but can also play in central defence, he’d offer cover in a number of positions. With Dortmund looking to rebuild from scratch this summer after a difficult year, Ginter could be a surprise departure.
