It seems that Liverpool will soon be able to cross off one name from our list of possible Raheem Sterling replacements… Barcelona and Spain star Pedro, who is reportedly close to joining Chelsea this summer.

According to reports in the Daily Star, the Blues have been given the green light to seal a £22m deal and expect the move to be completed next week.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has admitted that he won’t stand in the player’s way if he chooses to leave this month, despite him signing a new long-term contract earlier this year.

Enrique said: “My wish is that Pedro stays, but there are circumstances in his contract and I will respect his opinion if he wants to leave.”

Pedro’s an out and out goalscoring winger, as this next clip proves, and the news will come as a blow to many Reds.

The presence of Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi has made it hard for the 27-year-old to hold down a regular place in the starting line-up, while the imminent arrival of Arda Turan should effectively reduce him to being a bit-part squad player.

Liverpool had been widely linked with the World Cup winner in the build-up to Sterling’s inevitable departure, but now it seems that we’re going to have to look elsewhere.

Did somebody say Marco Reus?
