(Video) Jon Flanagan whacks one in the top corner as defender nears return

Jon Flanagan hasn’t played since our final match of the 2013/14 season, when Liverpool were still in contention for the Premier League title…

That day feels like a life time ago. In the meantime we’ve lost Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling and fired Brendan Rodgers, appointing Jurgen Klopp in his place.

The 22-year-old’s knee injuries have decimated the past 18 months of his career, but the player is in full training and will hopefully be available for selection in January.

And Flanagan uploaded this video to his Instagram page today – as he practices his free-kicks at Melwood!

His return will be very handy, as we’ve been short on fullback cover all season. The emergence of Brad Smith and Connor Randall has helped, but a fully fit Flanagan will offer genuine competition for either a left-back or right-back starting spot.
