Ian Ayre is currently feeling the wrath of Liverpool supporters online, and for good reason – after his response to the planned walkout this Saturday against Sunderland.
You can watch the full interview below, but we’ve pulled out some of them to give you a general overview.
“We’ve spent nine months talking about this with fans. We think it’s a great proposition, there’s something in there for everyone. If you study the facts around this proposition it really does have something everyone. Yes, I think the headline has been about the £77 ticket at Anfield, but the backdrop of that is free ticket for schools and kids at £9. One thousand tickets a game for young people, one thousand tickets a game for local people.
“Yes there’s a higher priced ticket but its balanced off by having something for everyone.
“We’re not pricing anyone out, actually. If your entry price is £9, with lots of other concessions, it’s actually creating access for everyone. What’s affordable to one person is different to another. From a school kid to a £77 ticket that some people are very happy to pay for – a ticket for the best seat in the best stand in the country!”
