Liverpool have more players on international duty than any other Premier League side

Posted by

We have a massive 17 players away on international duty this week, more than any other side (via SkySports).

Here is a complete list of players we are missing:

Nathaniel Clyne – England
Jordan Henderson – England
James Milner – England
Adam Lallana – England
Daniel Sturridge – England
Simon Mignolet – Belgium
Divock Origi – Belgium
Christian Benteke – Belgium
Philippe Coutinho – Brazil
Emre Can – Germany
Mamadou Sakho – France
Dejan Lovren – Croatia
Joe Allen – Wales
Danny Ward – Wales

Marko Grujic – Serbia
Brad Smith – Australia
Adam Bogdan – Hungary

Of course, Grujic is out on loan, but he is technically our player. The list does not include youth international call-ups. It could have been worse – Skrtel, Lucas, and Firmino were all ruled out by injuries.

The two nearest clubs are Spurs and Southampton, both of whom are missing 14 players.

Man Utd are missing 13, Chelsea and Man City are missing 12, while Arsenal are missing 11. League leaders Leicester are missing 10. The fewest call-ups came from Bournemouth and Swansea, both of whom lost six players.

We’ve heard a lot about Klopp being in Tenerife with his non-international players this week – but looking at this list it seems like will only be about five of them there!

On a more serious note, how costly could this be for our recently-discovered momentum? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
