Danny Ward set to make senior Wales debut

Posted by

Our back-up goalkeeper Danny Ward will make his senior international debut for Wales against either Northern Ireland or Ukraine in the coming days.

Wales boss Chris Coleman has confirmed the news:

“Danny Ward will play in one of these games. He deserves it. He went on loan to Aberdeen and played some great stuff,” he said.

“We saw a change in him after playing first-team football and he deserves a chance.

“We have Wayne who has been outstanding, Fon has had a taste of it now we need Danny to have a taste. He will figure in one of the games.” (via WalesOnline)

Ward is yet to play a senior game for us, but played 29 games for Scottish side Aberdeen whilst on loan with the SPL outfit earlier in the season.

He was credited for helping them lay the defensive groundwork for their on-going title bid.

He has played four times for the Welsh U21s.

Well done Danny, and good luck!
