Midfielder hoping “electric” Anfield will see us into the semis

Joe Allen has told the Echo that he hopes the electric atmosphere at Anfield on Thursday night will be able to see us into the semi-finals of the Europa League.

It is the first time Anfield will have seen a European quarter-final since we beat Benfica 5-3 on aggregate in the Europa League in 2010.

We took a commendable 1-1 draw away from Dortmund last week in the first leg, so a clean sheet will be enough to see us into the last four.

Allen hopes the famous Anfield crowd will be able to help us over the line:

“The result we got out there was a positive one and now they have to come to Anfield,” Allen said.

“The atmosphere will be electric. The supporters will be right behind us and at the same time they will make it difficult for their players.

“We’ll give it absolutely everything and hopefully we can get ourselves into the next round.”

With the injury to Jordan Henderson, Allen is certain to start the tie.
