It is thought a feature-length documentary about Steven Gerrard’s career is closer to becoming a reality, with gossip from the Cannes film festival suggesting our former captain has struck a deal with the team behind the recent Amy Winehouse biopic.

According to the Echo, UK financier-distributor Lorton Entertainment will both back and distribute it. The same company recently financed documentaries on Diego Maradona, Ayrton Senna, and Oasis.

The Echo also report that David Beckham and Wayne Rooney will feature in it, though it is not clear what their roles will be.
