What is it with Daniel Sturridge and England duty?

His injury nightmare of the last 18 months began when Hodgson stupidly played him against Germany in a friendly in November 2014 despite warnings from our medical team. He then compounded his stupidity by saying “It was important for me to test his resolve a little bit. I might have been guilty of putting that resolve to the test, but I don’t apologise for it” a month later (via Independent).

Now, it could have happened again.

According to the Echo, our frontman was absent from training for England today. England officials have claimed it was just a precaution after the player picked up a knock – but we’ll reserve judgement until more facts become available.

In other Euro 2016 news, Chelsea’s Gary Cahill also missed the session with an injury. Given Hodgson once again showed how woefully unsuited he is to the role by only picking three central defenders in his 26-man squad and leaving Everton’s Phil Jagielka behind, it could prove to be a massive blow.
