Liverpool face fresh ‘competition’ for perfectly-suited Klopp winger

Liverpool are believed to have a couple of rivals for the signature of Ajax winger Anwar El Ghazi.

But I wouldn’t be worried too much. Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio claims that it is Crystal Palace and recently-relegated Aston Villa who also want to sign the 21-year-old Dutchman.

Palace and Villa, other than perhaps more regular football, cannot offer El Ghazi anything that we cannot, and would not be serious competition if we did pursue the two-cap Netherlands international.

El Ghazi is not an established name around Europe, but he has many qualities suitable to Jurgen Klopp’s tactics, and an excellent eye for goal – he has reached double figures in his last two seasons at Ajax.

The 6ft 2in wideman loves running at defenders and has a combination of pace and strength which makes him difficult to stop. He is also adept at using either foot, and arriving late into the box.

If Klopp can teach El Ghazi to use his physical prowess to perform his defensive duties as well, and if we can keep him away from the mighty Palace and Villa, then he could be a good addition to our squad.
