Klopp called Man City target to convince him to make Liverpool switch

Jurgen Klopp has apparently made contact personally with Croatian youngster Ante Coric regarding a potential transfer, attempting to convince him to choose Liverpool over Manchester City this summer, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old is highly rated across Europe and is being monitored by a number of clubs. The report suggests Man City are leading the race, but Klopp is hoping to hijack the move with a bit more of a personal touch.

Coric was incredibly impressive for Dinamo Zagreb throughout the last season, scoring and assisting with regularity. He’s a hugely promising young midfielder with a truly bright future, and if we can steal him away from Manchester City it would be a fantastic bit of business.

City are apparently planning on offering Zagreb £6m plus add ons in order to lure the teenager away (via the Daily Mail), but that doesn’t even come close to their £10m valuation. If we were to make an offer closer to that valuation we might be able to pip Pep Guardiola to the player.

We’ve been linked with a number of midfielders already this summer, and Klopp clearly has big plans. Coric would arguably be more of a player for the future rather than one to make an immediate impact, but he’d still be a fantastic signing.
