Benteke agrees personal terms with Palace; desperate for move but Liverpool holding out for £££

Christian Benteke has reportedly agreed personal terms with Crystal Palace and is desperate to quit Liverpool for Selhurst Park.

According to The Mirror, all parties are optimistic that a deal could be completed this week despite a transfer fee having yet to be agreed.

The Mirror reports that Liverpool are holding out for the full £32m that we paid for the Belgian striker from Aston Villa last summer.

But after only 10 goals in 42 games in his debut season at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp seems to have deemed the target man surplus to requirements.

The Mirror understands that Benteke will become the highest-earning player in Palace’s history as part of their ambitious recruitment drive.

The Eagles have signed France goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, Andros Townsend and James Tomkins, but a top centre forward is their priority.

And Benteke would fit the bill perfectly. He does not suit Klopp’s style but Palace play much more directly and could get the best out of him.

That being said – getting our money back for him after the underwhelming season that he had at Liverpool is excellent business on our behalf.
