Martin Skrtel has officially signed for Turkish side Fenerbahce.

The news will come as no surprise after the defender was pictured at Istanbul airport holding a club scarf a couple of days ago, but the move has now been finalised.

His new team confirmed the news via their official Twitter account:

The no-nonsense Slovakian centre-back joined us back in January 2008 from Zenit St Petersburg and went on to make 320 appearances and score 18 goals for the club in and eight-year career.

In Fenerbahce, he is joining a side that finished second in the Turkish top flight last season.

We at Empire of the Kop wish him well for his future.
